Okay, so please explain to me why the death penalty has been abolished?

Even one would have been one too many…

So you may call it 120 000. You may call it 300 000. You may even call it 1.5 mil. In the end it doesn’t really matter, does it?

What in hell am I going on about? Well, these beautiful pictures, if you would really like to know: showing exactly what that nut-case who “runs” the country just across one of our northern borders had actually been up to…

Yep, Bobby “F*ck the Poor” Mugabe. Hero of the revolution, who has the poor’s best interests at heart…

And to add insult to the poor buggers “cleant up” in operation “Get rid of trash” — if it was, why the hell is ZANU-PF still running the country? — The AU feels very sorry-’n-all, but it’s an internal Zimbabwean matter after all, so the AU won’t interfere…

Anyone care to explain why the hell we have an African Union at all then? Seems like a wee bit of a toothless mongrel if you ask me…

Well, this is one way to get rid of people you don’t like… One does have to wonder, though, how the Judges would have felt if these were their homes
Update: Seems like I was not the only one to wonder…

Idle murmers with just a slight political tone…

It would seem we have a new Deputy President.

It is Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, who happens to be mostly clean and free from corruption, as long as nobody mentions the Oilgate saga.

Oops. sorry about that… At least this one seems to have a higher price than the previous one; which I, for one, appreciate.

There are upsides to it as well, of course. I would not be at all surprised to hear that this was the highest position achieved by a woman in a free democracy on the African continent. With some luck, our next president will be a woman. I’m quite supportive of that: so far we men have had a rather torrid track record running counties in Africa.

Not that the last woman in charge in South Africa did all that sterling a job, mind you, it’s just that we men have done well worse…

I must admit I am glad the Prez chose not to let Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma try and finish the job on the citizens she had started as Minister of Health. We’re in enough of a fix in South Africa, without needing that as well… To be fair, though, she’s doing okay as Foreign Affairs minister.

But, what does it all mean though, in real people’s lives? In my opinion, not a hell of a lot. After all has been said and done, they’re all still politicians, and I’m with Billy Connelly on this: “A desire to enter politics should bar one from it for life…”

Merely one more reason to bring back the death penalty

This is merely one more reason you don’t screw with Africa…

Not too often I read something that I find both laugh-out-loud tears-in-the-eyes funny as well as greatly encouraging. This was one such…

Very proud of himself, is he?

Sigh… And to think I was re-consider the validity of my manifesto after it transpired that the cause for it being posted was based of a fallacy.

This is the reason I differentiate between men and males. My manifesto contains a mere five points. How does anyone manage to break all five of them in a single action?

I’m not surprised to learn that the cur had a criminal record…

Ah, but what else would one expect from a society that thinks that happy slapping is a great idea

…the female of the species…

Filed under: South Africa — eroux @ 13:16

It would seem that the police had make some great breakthroughs in one of the most horrific cases of cold and callous malice I’ve had the misfortune to be exposed to in recent times.

I’ve been updating my previous blog entry as news unfolded, but this warrants an entry of its own, in my opinion.

According to IOL, police have arrested the “mastermind” behind the killing of baby Jordan. What is particularly shocking and devastating, is the fact that “he” is a she. Not that that changes my opinion of somebody I called a “sick, twisted, mean-spirited sub-human scum”. That might originally have been levelled at one of the other murderous swine, but it most certainly applies in even greater measure to her.

What I would like to know — dearly — is, which kind of person even contemplates an action like this; much less cold-heartedly plan and then execute it?

Am I an anachronism, still believing in protective men and nurturing women? What the hell is happening to our world?

Welcome to the new dark ages. We hope you’ll enjoy your stay.

I am aghast.

There was a time in the history of Europe, where religious fanatics from the Catholic Church was the scourge of the populace, hunting down accused — and anyone else they could beat into admitting to being — witches.

Fortunately, we no longer live in the dark ages, religious persecution is frowned upon and no one needs to fear for their lives merely for not agreeing with doctrine or dogma.

It would appear, though, that someone neglected informing this contemptible dastard!

Joyful Glee

Jacob Zuma is in even hotter water.

I must admit, that I am mean spirited enough to derive the utmost satisfaction from that fact. And I will also admit that I hope the same happens to others of the corrupt persuasion.

Hats off to Patricia for having initiated the Arms Probe through sheer dogged perseverance, keep up the great work. Tony, get your crowd up off of their collective arses and get to work following Patricia’s example of keeping the maniacs running this county in check.

As to the title:

glee (n)

  1. great merriment, joy

joy (n)

  1. Intense and especially ecstatic or exultant happiness.
  2. The expression or manifestation of such feeling.

Joyful tidings, indeed. Couldn’t happen to a more deserving fellow…

As threatened, here it is: my Man’s Manifesto. Do with it as you will…

My heart aches…

Filed under: South Africa — eroux @ 11:53

There are times I read or see things on the Internet or on TV, that has me sitting quietly crying.

Since I seldom cry, these times tend to really frighten my wife as well, which, to me at least, is a good enough reason to curb any such impulses. A bit of a negative feedback loop, maybe, but it seems to work for us, so I will not be changing it.

Yet, as I said, there are times I cry.

The most notable time was the Chechen rebel’s school siege in Russia. The amount of impotent rage I felt that day is something I really wish upon no-one.

I was taught from a fairy early age — not that it has ever been formalised in this way — that a man’s duty and responsibility to the world and his family included strength, honour, protection and love.

Strength in word, thought and deed: a man must hold to his convictions, ensure clarity of his thoughts and make sure that he may be the bastion of strength for his folk in a very uncertain world.

Honour: a man should always maintain honourable relations to his family and, as a secondary but still important consideration, his society. This also, of course, includes the adherence of justice, fairness and truth.

Protection: A man will protect his people at all costs. To hell with the proverbial king and country… Please note the “people”. That definition will change during a man’s life, but with the strength to maintain clarity of thought and the honesty to self already espoused, a man will know who his people are.

And love; and not the sickly sweet and weak emotion from fawning Valentine’s Cards. Love is the bright light an a dark world. It is what keeps us focused on what is important; it is also what warns us of danger and the false.

These are very high ideals but we have a word for male humans who attempt to adhere to them: men. The rest are relegated to being mere males.

I honestly think it is time I wrote up a “Man’s Manifesto” and posted it.

Now, what brought this on? What had me crying like Croats invading a school and killing the children?

This morning, IOL published a news story that had me crying tears of rage…

What kind of sick, twisted, mean-spirited sub-human scum male would even think of stabbing a six month old baby?

What kind of “humans” live in this damned country?

Well Done guys. Why don’t you just go yourselves and personally support Mugabe? You’re damned close to doing exactly that as it is, anyway. You guys have the morality of ZANU-PF!

There a certain things — and some people — that quietly manages to leave me feeling slightly queasy. It is not too often, however, that I find something that does it to me on both counts. Who in tarnation thought this is a good idea?
